The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in the Makeni Division have arrested two individuals and seized a substantial quantity of illegal drugs.
The operation, led by CSP Abu Bakarr Magona, resulted in the confiscation of 170 parcels of cannabis sativa and a fiscal cash of NLe 68,000.
The arrest followed a distress call from officers stationed at the Makoth checkpoint, reporting that a commercial vehicle (Registration No. AQG 299) had forcefully evaded a routine search and sped toward Makeni. Acting swiftly, CSP Magona mobilized an operations team, which successfully intercepted the vehicle at Ladies Mile, Makeni.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered the concealed cannabis parcels. The suspects, identified as Amadu Jawara of Kabala Town and Alhaji Sitta Jalloh of No. 7 Yeli Sanda Road, Makeni, were immediately taken into custody.
Both the suspects and the confiscated drugs have been handed over to the Rogbaneh Police Station, where investigations are ongoing.
The Sierra Leone Police reaffirm their commitment to eradicating drug-related crimes and ensuring public safety in the region.
