Two close aides to Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, have died following a fatal road accident along the Makeni-Gbomsamba road on Thursday night.

The victims have been identified as Alpha Jalloh, who served as the Vice President’s main driver, and Warrant Officer (WO) Kamara Jabbie, a military personnel attached to his security detail.

Details regarding the exact cause of the crash or whether the personnel were on official duty at the time have not yet been officially released by authorities, but the tragic news has already prompted an outpouring of grief and condolences across the country.

Government officials and citizens have taken to social media to express their sympathies to the Vice President and the bereaved families.

Among those publicly mourning the loss is Dr. Turad Senesie, who offered his deep condolences to the Vice President and the families of the deceased personnel.

“May the souls of the VP’s driver and security rest in peace. Though tragic and devastating, yet we cannot question the decision of God Almighty,” Dr. Senesie shared in a public statement.

Honoring the service of the two men, he added, “Rest in peace brothers, your hard works and sacrifices will not go in vain.”
