The Erstwhile president of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma, has appealed to the security agencies,  PPRC, and the government to hold free and fair elections.

The Erstwhile president made this appeal after collecting his voter registration card on April 7, 2023.

“I’v collected my Voter ID Card, I urge all eligible Sierra Leoneans to Collect their Voters Card. The sooner the better. Credible Elections are integrated with and dependent on a voter roll that is accurate,, Verifiable and credible.” he tweeted

He described free and fair as one  that creates a level playing field for contest, he added that we should not perceive that certain institutions and even government are using the majesty of their office to disadvantage other Political Parties. He  emphasized that from his experience of observing Elections in Africa, they know that elections are won even before the elections day and they don’t want that to happen. He confirmed that most of the Problems in Africa emanate from disputed elections.

He described a disputed election as one that the field is not level and other players feel certain things have been done to disadvantage or  give advantage to others.

“We have seen the good days and bad days. It is the responsibility of every one of us and it’s the responsibility of other political parties to make sure good things happen” he stated

He further cautioned that it is not just about winning elections  but an environment that is peaceful.
