Sierra Leone’s Former Chief Immigration Officer, Andrew Jaia Kaikai, now serving as the Executive Director – National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) was spotted on Thursday morning taking a public motorbike to work.

This unconventional mode of transport follows the recent seizure of his three luxury vehicles – a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon, Toyota Landcruiser, and Toyota Fortuner – by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The move came after Kaikai, during his confirmation hearing at the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments and Public Service earlier this week, admitted to Hon. Matthew Nyuma, the Committee’s Chairman, that the vehicles were gifted to him by a friend during his tenure as the countryโ€™s Chief Immigration Officer.

The ACC promptly confiscated the said vehicles pending further investigation.

While the investigation unfolds, Kaikai’s decision to opt for a motorbike has garnered significant public attention and sparked conversations about the ongoing scrutiny of public officials and their assets.
