Ballot papers to be used for the 24 June multitier election have just arrived at the Freetown International Airport.

The ballot papers were due to arrive on Saturday but the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) in a press release said the papers will not be arriving during the weekend.

Voting has already started last week with Muslim pilgrims given the opportunity to vote early for only their presidential candidate.

Polls will open this Saturday with tension already high between the two main political parties, the ruling SLPP and main opposition APC.

The APC have earlier given an ultimatum for the Chief Electoral Commissioner, Mohamed Kenewui Konneh and all other Commissioners of the ECSL to resign within 72 hours.

Konneh defied the request made by the APC affirming their commitment to conduct the elections as planned.
