President Julius Maada Bio has landed in Nairobi, Kenya, where he is set to participate in the Africa Forward Summit scheduled for 11-12 May 2026, a major continental gathering focused on shaping Africa’s development agenda.
The summit, co-hosted by Kenyan President William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron, is expected to serve as a platform for strengthening collaboration between Africa, France, and international partners on key development priorities.
Deliberations will centre on a wide range of strategic issues, including trade and investment, climate action, sustainable financing, the blue economy, digital transformation, public health systems, green industrialisation, and youth empowerment. The meeting is designed to bring together political leaders, global investors, development partners, and multilateral institutions in pursuit of practical solutions to Africa’s development challenges.

With over 1,500 participants anticipated, including Heads of State and Government, ministers, private sector leaders, civil society representatives, and global financial institutions, the summit is being viewed as a critical space for advancing new partnerships and unlocking financing opportunities for sustainable growth across the continent.
For Sierra Leone, President Bio’s participation is expected to reinforce the country’s commitment to expanding international cooperation, attracting investment, and strengthening key sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, and human capital development.

In addition to the main summit sessions, President Bio is expected to hold a series of bilateral engagements with fellow leaders and development partners, aimed at deepening cooperation and exploring new investment avenues.
At the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, President Bio was warmly received by Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Rebecca Miano, Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) Peter K. Lavahun, and senior officials from Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.
