The First Lady of Sierra Leone, Fatima Bio has revealed that 30 children got injured from the incident at Bo Mini Stadium.

She made this revelation following the collapse of railings of the Stadium on the 2nd February, 2023, during the free sanitary pad distribution launching her and her husband, Julius Maada Bio.

In a video shared on social media, the First Lady disclosed that 30 children were injured in the accident, and it was caused by the too many pressure on the stadium’s railings. She further confirmed that no deaths were reported and majority of the pupils went  home safely.

She confirmed that, the children were very happy to receive them at the Ceremony, adding that they catered for ten thousand (10,000) students (girls) to get free Sanitary Pad in the Southern Regional Headquater Town, Bo.

Fatima Bio noted that among those admitted, many were proven fit and declared safe by the Medical practitioners, adding that those that need to stay for more treatment are still undergoing medical treatments with intensive care.

We are all working hard to make sure that they are all okay, and there is no life treathening case in the hospital, there were no deaths, no one in comma , nobody is in critical condition, no complain on broken legs or arms’,’ she said..

She added that, ‘‘I came purposely to put a smile on the face of my school gils, my students and to inspire them to know that someone out there cares for them.”

Many parents and Sierra Leoneans were worried about the issue and the outcome as well as its impact on the childrens’ welfare and how they will continue with their school activities.

Report reaching our desk, confirmed that, these pupils are currently receiving treatment at the Bo Government Hospital. There is no confirmed death according investigations and tht the doctors are puting all efforts to get these pupils back on their feet to continue school activities within the shortest posible time.
