His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio has on Friday, 3rd February 2023 commissioned the newly furnished Eastern Regional Central Mosque situated along Hangha Road, in Kenema.

Speaking during the commission ceremony, the Regional Chief Imam for the East, Alhaji Sheiku Maluwan Kutubu Konneh disclosed that the rehabilitation of the Regional Center Mosque came as a surprise to every worshiper in Kenema, Kailahun and Kono Districts.

He explained that the springboard of President Bio’s Government in Kenema, Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray of the National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA) single-handedly funded the renovation exercise on behalf of President Brigadier (Retired) Julius Maada Bio and his wife, Dr Fatima Jabbie Bio.

In a brief sermon, Alhaji Kutubu thanked the President for the appointment of Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray and commended the new direction for the successful administration, and continued implementation of the Free Quality Education project.

Imam Kutubu also pleaded for and on behalf of his colleagues, Jamaat and the poor for additional palliatives as Ramadan approaches.

Chief Regional Imam, Alhaji Sheiku Maluwan Kutubu Konneh furthered that, the newly furnished mosque will enable personnel and their families to worship in a conducive environment.

He encouraged President Bio to ignore his detractors and maintain good services in the country.

He furthered by acknowledging Mr AbdulRahman Jallon and his mother, Mama Haja Mary Betty Sandy for their relentless efforts in the coordination and monitoring of the projects.

In his address to the congregants during the commission ceremony, Sierra Leone’s President, HE Julius Maada Bio advocated for continued prayers for his government, as well as the peace and progress of the nation.

Bio noted that it was the fervent prayers of every Sierra Leonean including the indelible sensitivity of those in the security sectors that had kept the nation together despite her numerous challenges.

While emphasising that it was impossible to serve God well without adequate facilities, President Bio implored those that will be managing the facilities provided for the Mosque to ensure proper use for the spiritual upliftment of the worshippers.

The refurbishment has enabled the Basement of the Masjid to get additional infrastructures and facilities to strengthen the building and enhance the comfortable and improved standard of living of its occupants.
