President Bio is set to launch the independent commission for peace and national cohesion in Sierra Leone ahead of the June 24 general elections.

The set date for the event is on the 20th April, 2023 at the Bintumani Conference Hall in Freetown.

The commission is set to have activities immediately after the launch. The Secretary General of the Commission, Hawa Samai has engaged executives of various transport unions in the country to discuss their participation in the national peace jog to be held on the 29th April, 2023.

The jogging is meant to create sensitization and awareness raising on the importance of peace before, during and after elections and to get stakeholders including politicians to recommit themselves to upholding the peace in the country. It is noted that the Freetown event will start at waterloo and ends at Lumley beach which may be climaxed by statements from various stakeholders.

The secretary also informed the team about the official launch of the commission on the 20th April and as such called on them to grace the twin occasions within this month being the launch on the 20th and the peace jog on the 29th April respectively.
