Sierra Leone President, Dr. Julius Maada Bio held a meeting with Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday, 3rd March, 2025.

The meeting, which was marked by a warm welcome from the bagpipers of the Presidential Guards Brigade, commenced at 12:22 pm and was highlighted by a closed-door discussion led by Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila.

The meeting was described by President Bio as “highly productive,” underscoring both leaders’ commitment to fostering prosperity in the West African region. He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his hospitality, viewing it as a testament to the warmth characteristic of African nations.

Following their discussions, President Bio was scheduled for an official visit to Oyo State, where he would be warmly received by Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan. The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Suleimon Olanrewaju, announced this visit, which aims to deepen bilateral relations, particularly in agriculture and economic collaboration.

Governor Makinde expressed enthusiasm for hosting President Bio and his team, emphasizing the historical and cultural importance of Oyo State. He noted, “President Bio and his team will experience Oyo State’s rich history and heritage, which has earned it the title of Pacesetter.”

During his stay in Oyo State, President Bio planned to tour the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub, a testament to the state’s commitment to agricultural development and industrialization.

The visit was seen as a significant step towards strengthening the ties between Nigeria and Sierra Leone, reinforcing both countries’ focus on collaboration in vital sectors.
