Justice Adrian Fisher has today dismissed the Application by the defence team of the Presidential Candidate of the APC Party 2018, Dr. Samura Kamara, to crush the indictment upon which Dr. Samura and 5 others are standing trial at the High Court for corruption related offences.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Samura Kamara and others are answering separately and co-jointly to 48 counts of corruption offenses that include failure to comply with applicable procedures and guidelines to do with procurement; management of funds; misappropriation of public funds; abuse of office; fraudulent acquisition of a benefit; knowingly deceiving a principal; and conspiracy to commit a corruption offense.

Kamara is charged with two counts of deceiving a principal and misappropriation of public funds to the tune of USD2,560,000 disbursed by the Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sometimes in 2016 for renovation of the New York Chancery Building in the United States of America.

The opposition APC presidential candidate in 2018 is alleged to have on a date unknown between the 1st day of January 2016 and the 30th day of April 2016, deceived the Government of Sierra Leone b giving to the Cabinet a Cabinet Paper document that he knew contained a misleading statement – that: “The Companies undertaking the renovation or constructions are reliable and were subjected to a rigorous vetting process.”

On 14 December 2021, High Court Judge, Honourable Justice Adrian Fisher presiding over cases at the Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court in Freetown, admitted Dr. Samura Matthew Wilson Kamara and three others to bail in the sum of Two Billion Leones and two sureties each.
