Recent investigations have revealed that G. Shankerdas & Sons Company is involved in several abnormalities, ranging from the substandard quality of their products to the maltreatment of their staff.
According to the Heroes Media Newspaper, users have complained about the presence of alcohol in thr company’s non-alcoholic drink, ‘Lelemu’.
It is alleged that users had complicated feelings after consuming the drink due to the amount of alcohol in it.
Most people are concerned because not everyone takes alcohol as a result of their religious beliefs, health issues, and other reasons.
According to the Heroes Media Newspaper, the alcoholic drinks they produce did not go through health lab tests to ascertain if it is good for consumption, which is a health alert.
The report also stated that the company has about 1000 workers but only a few are on NASSIT.
The Chief Technical Officer of G. Shankerdas, Vicky Brsham in an interview responded to the allegation but was unable to present any NASSIT documents for verification.
The investigation also revealed that the majority of their workers are used as casual laborers without making them permanent workers after several years of working for the company.
The labor laws of Sierra Leone state that an employee must be made permanent after serving six months if the employer is satisfied with his/her performance, but if not the employer can release the employee.
