Residents of Sundehun have allocated a parcel of land for the construction of a new police post as part of efforts to strengthen community security and improve police presence in the area.
The decision was reached during a strategic security meeting held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, bringing together police officers, Community Safety Volunteers (CSVs), and local stakeholders to discuss measures aimed at enhancing safety through community policing.
The meeting was attended by the Local Unit Commander (LUC), CSP Emmanuel Kpulun, Community Relations Department (CRD) Coordinator Sgt. Mariama Bockarie, Operations Officer Inspector Mohamed Conteh, APPC Chairman Jacob Musa Taluva, CSV Chairman Nyakeh Kpau, and Chief Musa Kamara.
Speaking at the meeting, APPC Chairman Jacob Musa Taluva commended the Sierra Leone Police for their continued engagement with the community in maintaining peace and security. CSV Chairman Nyakeh Kpau, meanwhile, highlighted operational challenges affecting volunteer patrols and called for greater logistical support to improve their effectiveness.
Addressing participants, CSP Emmanuel Kpulun underscored the importance of strong collaboration between the police and residents, noting that timely information sharing remains critical to effective crime prevention, particularly in light of the force’s limited personnel.
A key outcome of the engagement was the community’s commitment to provide land for the construction of a police post, a development expected to enhance security coordination, improve police accessibility, and strengthen law enforcement services within Sundehun and surrounding communities.
To further support community-based policing efforts, CSP Kpulun donated five raincoats to the Community Safety Volunteers to facilitate patrols during the rainy season. He urged the volunteers to carry out their duties professionally, respect human rights, and operate strictly within the laws of Sierra Leone.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by the Sierra Leone Police to deepen partnerships with communities and promote a proactive approach to maintaining peace, safety, and public order.
