The nationwide curfew and ban on congregational worship in Churches, Mosques and other religious places imposed by President Julius Maada Bio for a period of one month on 1st July, 2021 will end this weekend.

It can be recalled that the Ban also saw the restriction on restaurants and bars encouraged to use takeaway services and close at 9pm daily.

AYV Newspaper reports It also saw the reduction of attendance at funerals, weddings and other social events limited to no more than fifty persons; drivers and passengers strongly urged to get their COVID-19 vaccination prior to all intra and inter-district travels and all prior NACOVERC measures and advisories on proper facemasking, handwashing and social distancing remaining in full force.

As the month long ban and restrictions period ends this weekend, there have been clarion calls from residents for the President not to extend the ban and restrictions any further, especially when the country has made tremendous strides in reducing the number of daily prevalence of the Virus.

President Julius Maada Bio is however expected to make a statement on the status of the country in fighting the Virus and the ban and restrictions.
