The Minister of Health, Dr. Austin Demby, speaking at the Sierra Leone Medical & Dental Association (SLMDA) Mid‑Year Congress in Kenema, praised the nation’s health professionals for their unwavering dedication to saving mothers and children in the country.

Under the theme “The Role of Health Professionals in Achieving Zero Preventable Maternal and Child Deaths in Sierra Leone” as a direct call to action.

Minister Demby further stated, “Lives are not lost at the national level; lives are lost at the community level, at the household level, and at the facility level.” He urged the medical and dental fraternity to continue leading the charge, using data, innovation, systems redesign, and on‑ground compassion to close the remaining gaps.

He called on all health professionals to be “Triple‑Zero Champions.” “History will judge us by the lives we save,” Dr. Demby declared.

Finally, Minister Demby concluded his statement by saying, “The 300 Days of Activism is not the start of a national campaign; it is the beginning of an era of accountability, professional excellence, and innovation to achieve our one shared vision.”
