Dutch Prosecutors to Seize €221 Million in Wealth from Wanted Drug Trafficker Jos Leijdekkers
Fatmata Grace Bangura Dutch prosecutors have revealed plans to seize €221 million (\$253 million) in illicit wealth tied to Jos Leijdekkers, one of Europe’s most wanted drug kingpins, also known as ‘Bolle Jos’.
This action follows investigations that have connected his illegal wealth to his cocaine smuggling operations. Reports indicate that Leijdekkers, who is believed to be hiding in Sierra Leone, generated around €114 million from just 14 cocaine shipments in less than a year.
Prosecutors have traced his illicit wealth to various luxury items and properties, including expensive real estate in Dubai, two Bentleys, designer bags, jewelry, and more all believed to be purchased with the profits from his drug trafficking activities.
To aid in the search, Dutch authorities are offering a €200,000 reward for any information on his whereabouts. Despite the large amount of wealth and assets tied to him, Leijdekkers remains at large, with authorities hoping to finally bring him to justice.
