The Speaker of  Ecowas Parliament, Mohamed Tunis has led  a delegation to the city  of Laayoune, Morocco.

The high powered delegation was welcomed to  Southern Morocco, by the Governor, His Excellency Mr. Abed Essalam Bikrat.

The delegation was briefed on the history, governance structures, and massive ongoing developments in Laayoune Sakia El Hamra by the Vice President of the Community, Mr Aabid Merizigue; and taken on a guided tour of ongoing development projects by the President of the Region, His Excellency Sidi Hamdiuld Errachid.

The Speaker Tunis concluded his  visit to Laayoune with the singing of the Laayoune Declaration. The Right Honorable Speaker Enaam Mayara signed for the House of Councilors of the Kingdom of Morocco and he did for the ECOWAS Parliament.

The declaration, stresses the importance of South South Cooperation as a key factor in facing the challenges and stakes posed at the international and regional level and as a mechanism to launch a structural transformation for the economies of the region’s countries, thereby laying the foundation for strong and sustainable growth.

The visitation affirms the centrality of both Parliaments in strengthening the bridges between the Kingdom Of Morocco and the Ecowas – Cedeao region, as well as creating the framework and conditions conducive to achieving integration.
