The Inspector General of Police, William Fayia Sellu, has paid an official visit to Samu in Kambia District, where he engaged police recruits currently undergoing intensive training at the Advanced Public Order Training School under the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy.

During his engagement with the trainees, the police chief stressed the importance of discipline in policing, describing it as the foundation of every effective institution and a key principle that shapes professionalism, responsibility, and conduct within the security sector.

Addressing the recruits at the Advanced Public Order Training School (APOTS), IGP Sellu reminded them that policing is a demanding and honorable profession that requires commitment, sacrifice, integrity, and dedication to national service.

According to the Inspector General, the duties of a police officer extend beyond ordinary employment, noting that the profession carries a lifelong responsibility to protect lives, maintain law and order, and uphold public confidence in the police force.

The visit formed part of ongoing efforts by the leadership of the Sierra Leone Police to encourage professionalism and strengthen discipline among officers undergoing training for future deployment and national service.

The recruits are currently undertaking intensive public order and law enforcement training at APOTS in Samu, Kambia District, as part of preparations aimed at enhancing operational readiness and professional policing standards within the country’s security sector.

 

IGP Sellu’s engagement with the trainees further highlighted the importance of discipline, accountability, and service to the nation as core values expected of police officers serving the people of Sierra Leone.
