The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) announced Friday that it will provide logistical assistance to the Electoral Commission of Guinea to facilitate upcoming legislative and municipal elections for Guinean nationals residing in Sierra Leone.

The elections, scheduled for Sunday, May 31, 2026, will allow registered Guinean citizens to cast their ballots at designated polling centers across the country. Voting locations will be established in Bo, Kenema, Kono, Kabala, Makeni, Kambia, Western Rural, and Western Urban.

In a public statement, the ECSL clarified that its involvement is strictly limited to logistical support, which is being coordinated through the Guinean Embassy in Sierra Leone. This assistance includes providing vehicles, drivers, and access to the designated voting centers and stations needed to conduct the electoral exercise.

The commission noted that this cross-border support aligns with the ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commissions (ECONEC) framework, an initiative designed to foster and strengthen cooperation among Election Management Bodies throughout the West African sub-region.
