Ambassador Soulay B. Daramy, the Executive Director of the Ahmad Tejan Kabbah Foundation for Peace and Democracy (ATK-FPD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL).

Daramy was part of a total of nine leaders and representatives of Civil Society and Rights-based organizations which seek to achieve shared objectives with ECSL in promoting the conduct of credible elections in Sierra Leone.

Noteworthy is that the ATK-FPD was formed by Mrs. Isatu Jabbie (IJ) Kabbah in the year 2016, two years after the death of her husband, Former President H.E. Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah.

Ambassador Soulay Daramy who served as a Senior Ambassador and Protocol Aide to the late Former President, explains on their website that “Our work at the Foundation is very critical-to sustain the legacies and outlived the examples of the late President. The Ahmad Tejan Kabbah (ATK) Foundation for Peace and Democracy is a non-profit organization that advocates for unity, peaceful coexistence, democracy, good governance, Girl Child Education, youth, and women’s empowerment”.

Ambassador Soulay Daramy furthers that “The foundation is poised about fostering a favorable environment wherein every Sierra Leonean will contribute to the growth and development nationally and internationally. ATK Foundation for Peace and Democracy envisages a democratic, just, and peaceful society where people are empowered to fully realize their potentials”.

Meanwhile, the Chief Electoral Commissioner and ECSL Chairman, Mohamed Kenewui Konneh signed the MOU with the 9 entities on behalf of the ECSL.

The ECSL and Partners have also agreed to collaborate while performing their institutional objectives in line with their respective mandates and to further promote the fundamental objective of the partnership in the areas of Governance, Human Rights, Inclusion, and Civic and Electoral Education in Sierra Leone.

As partners, the ECSL has committed to accrediting these organizations to observe electoral processes and activities and make recommendations that are geared towards the promotion of democratic good governance through the conduct of credible elections in Sierra Leone.
