The Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) returning officers has released provisional results for the just concluded parliamentary bye-Election results For Port Loko Constituency 073 And Kailahun Constituency 005.

Following the death of the substantive Member of Parliament in Constituency 005 in Kailahun District and Port Loko Constituency 073, the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) declared the seat vacant and announced a date for a bye-election to fill that vacancy slated for Saturday 26th March, 2022.

In Constituency 005 in Kailahun, two female candidates contested in the election: Hawa Rosaline Siafa of SLPP; and Amie Momoh of APC.

In Constituency 073 in Port Loko, three candidates contested for the vacant seat in Parliament: Abdul Karim Kanu of SLPP; Issa Oye Koroma of APC and Isatu Kamara of PDP.

According to the official results released by Mohamed Augustine A.A, the District Returning Officer for Port Loko District, Abdul Karim Kanu (SLPP) polled 2,711 votes; Issa Oye Koroma (APC) polled 3,936 votes while Isatu Kamara (PDP) polled 45 votes. A total of 457 invalid votes were recorded.

In Kailahun, Commissioner Marian Sia Nyuma-Moijueh, the Regional Returning Officer, Eastern Region announced the result as follows: Hawa Rosaline Siafa (SLPP) – 7,585 (85.5%); Amie Momoh (APC) – 1,285 Votes (14.5%).

The commission further noted that Chairman Mohamed Konneh, will declare certified results on Monday 28th March 2022 at 10:30 at the their headquarters in Freetown.
