The Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) will next week Saturday 3rd September 2022 commence a nationwide voter registration for eligible citizens to take part in the 24th June 2022 Presidential, Parliamentary and local council elections.

To make the exercise credible, the commission has urged citizens to go and register their right to vote within the one-month window.

The electoral commission will start the exercise after approval by the President and Parliament as stipulated by law.

Meanwhile, the 24 June 2023 national elections will be the 6th under the Second Republic of Sierra Leone that was ushered in in 1996 when the late Alhaji Dr Ahmad Tejan Kabbah of the Sierra Leone  People’s Party (SLPP) was elected president in a runoff with late Dr John Kerifa-Smart of the United National People’s Party.
