European Union Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Manuel Muller has called on government to strengthen freedom of expression including the protection of level playing field to express  concerns peacefully without violence or fear .

However, he also encouraged the youth to channel their grievance in a peacefully manner without violence or fear.

” Violence is not right a right way, but peacefully enjoying citizens rights is the rights way to go ,” he maintained

Muller was speaking on the day of the commemoration of the International Youth Day at the Bintumani conference center at Aberdeen in Freetown.

The theme for this year’s commemoration integrational Solidarity: Creating a World for all ages. Ambassador Muller acknowledged the crucial role which youths play for the development of our societies and for a world without poverty and inequality, and a world that can sustain itself, without undermining the prosperity of future generation.

He disclosed that the world is being threatened by social political and environmental crisis, adding that the youths needs to be aware of the above challenges and work together to ensure social stability and prosperity in our societies.

He urged young people to be aware of the cause and conseof the causes of climate change and to deeply engaged in the protection of the environment.

Ambassador Manuel Müller is a staunch advocate of gender equality and women and girls’ empowerment. Before his assignment in Sierra Leone, he has been German Ambassador to South Sudan, and Deputy Head of Division for Sahel, West and Central Africa at the German Foreign Office.
