The European Union Delegation in Sierra Leone has held what it described as a “rich and informative exchange” with the leadership of the opposition All People’s Congress (APC), amid ongoing political debate over proposed constitutional amendments.
The EU Delegation announced the engagement on Thursday, 13 August 2026, describing the meeting as an opportunity for dialogue with the APC leadership.
The meeting comes days after APC Members of Parliament walked out of Parliament during proceedings on the Constitution of Sierra Leone (Amendment) Bill, 2025, following disagreements over the consideration and passage of the proposed amendments.
The constitutional amendment process has attracted significant political and public attention, with the government maintaining that the Bill seeks to advance reforms arising from the Justice Cowan Constitutional Review and recommendations of the Tripartite Committee.
The Bill has also been the subject of strong opposition from the APC, which has raised concerns over aspects of the proposed amendments and the process through which they are being considered.
Parliament has previously indicated that the Constitutional Amendment Bill requires a two-thirds majority of Members of Parliament to be passed.
The latest engagement between the EU Delegation and the APC leadership comes as political and public discussions continue over the proposed constitutional reforms.

Parties are not allowed to write Constitution for the people , it is for the people and by the people. This Constitution has been making the rounds since Pa Kabba time for years, and most of the article were inputs from Ernest Koroma Presidential term, APC, why should you mostly APC parliamentarians should have problems with it.
