Fatima Bio has arrived safely in Canada ahead of a series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between Sierra Leone and Canada.

During her visit, the First Lady is expected to participate in the Canada–Sierra Leone Trade, Investment, and Cultural Show, where discussions will focus on expanding trade, attracting investment, and showcasing Sierra Leone’s cultural heritage and economic potential.

Speaking ahead of the engagements, Mrs. Bio said the visit presents an opportunity to deepen cooperation between the two countries.

“We will explore opportunities to deepen economic cooperation, promote investment, and celebrate the rich culture and immense potential of our beloved Sierra Leone,” she said.

The First Lady is also scheduled to attend the SLPP Canada Regional Executive Inauguration Ceremony, where she will join members of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party diaspora for the inauguration of the party’s regional executive.

Describing the event as significant, Mrs. Bio said it reflects the dedication and commitment of the party’s supporters abroad to Sierra Leone’s continued development.

“This is an important occasion that reflects the dedication and commitment of our (SLPP) diaspora to the continued progress of our nation,” she said.

In addition to the official engagements, the First Lady said she looks forward to meeting with Canadian counterparts, development stakeholders, and members of the Sierra Leonean community in Canada as part of efforts to further strengthen the longstanding relationship between the two countries.
