The First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Her Excellency Madam Fatima Jabbie Bio will on Monday 19th September, 2022 grace the royal funeral of Late Queen Elizabeth II, while her husband the President, His Excellency Julius Maada Bio will be Co-Chairing in NYC, the UN High-level transforming education summit.

The 96-year-old head of the Commonwealth who was born in Mayfair, London on April 21, 1926 departed this life on September 8, 2022 at Balmoral Castle, United Kingdom.

Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms, the longest-living and longest-reigning British monarch, died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Her death was announced at 18:30 BST, followed by reactions from leaders around the world. She was succeeded by her eldest child, Charles III.

The death of Late Queen Elizabeth II was a sudden shock to the British and British colonies in Africa.

The Royal Family made the announcement of Queen Elizabeth’s death in a terse statement Thursday evening.

“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

“The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow”, it reads.

President Julius Maada Bio took to his tweeter handle among other World leaders and dignitaries to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.

The State Funeral of Her Majesty The Queen is scheduled to take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19th September at 1100hrs BST. Prior to the State Funeral, The Queen will Lie-in-State in Westminster Hall for four days, to allow the public to pay their respects.

The Queen’s Coffin currently rests in the Ballroom at Balmoral Castle. Her Majesty’s Coffin will travel to Edinburgh tomorrow, Sunday 11th September, by road, to arrive at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, where it will rest in the Throne Room until the afternoon of Monday 12th September.

Ahead of the funeral date planned, the First Lady of Sierra Leone, Madam Fatima Jabbie Bio will be leaving the shores of Freetown to England as official representative from Sierra Leone, and her husband, The President, His Excellency Julius Maada Bio will be Co-Chairing in NYC, the UN High-level transforming education summit.
