Fatima Bio Engages Türkiye’s First Lady, Discusses Bo Pediatric Hospital Project
First Lady Fatima Bio met with the First Lady of the Republic of Türkiye, Her Excellency Emine Erdoğan, to discuss the timeline and progress of the 150-bed pediatric hospital under construction in Bo, Sierra Leone.
The meeting focused on the ongoing hospital project, implemented in partnership with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), which is expected to strengthen pediatric healthcare services in Sierra Leone.
First Lady Fatima Bio described the project as a significant investment in the health and future of Sierra Leone’s children, noting that it is particularly meaningful to her because of her commitment to ensuring that children across the country have access to quality healthcare regardless of where they are born.
The 150-bed pediatric hospital will serve children and families in Bo and communities across the Southern Region, while strengthening Sierra Leone’s capacity to provide specialised pediatric care closer to home.
According to First Lady Fatima Bio, the project represents hope, dignity and a better future for children and families in Sierra Leone.
She expressed gratitude to Her Excellency Emine Erdoğan, as well as the Government and people of Türkiye, for their continued support and partnership with Sierra Leone.
She further described the collaboration between the two countries as an example of how international friendship can translate into tangible opportunities and improved lives for citizens.
“For Sierra Leone, this is more than a hospital. It is an investment in our children, our families, and an investment in the future of our nation,” she stated.
