The Ministry of Finance has on the 8th November 2023 effected payments to local councils to support the operations of the free quality education school bus services for the first term of the 2023/2024 academic year.

In a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), the government has allocated a total of Nle 3,852,500 to local councils that serve as beneficiaries.

This financial support is intended to cover expenses related to fuel and administrative remuneration for the dedicated drivers of the school bus services.

The Ministry of Finance has confirmed that these payments have been directly deposited into the bank accounts of the local councils responsible for operating the school bus services throughout the country for the current academic year.

This financial injection is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the continuation of the free quality education program in Sierra Leone.
