The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE) has today informed the public that the Government of Sierra Leone is offering Grant-in-Aid (GID) to suitably qualified Sierra Leoneans for Degree, Diploma, and Certificate Programmes for the 2021/2022 academic year.

The seven tenable institutions are:

1. University of Sierra Leone (USL)
2. Njala University (NU)
3. Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology (EBKUST)
4. Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU)
5. Eastern Technical University (ETU)
6. Freetown Polytechnic (FP)
7. Government Technical Institutes (Masingbi, Dorma Kono, Sundu Town, Kono, Kabala, Sahn Malem, Bo, Kenema, Kailahun, Moyamba, Kambia, GTI Mattru, Bonthe Technical College).

MTHE noted that, “Priority will be given to female candidates pursuing the following programmes: Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, Mathematics (STEM), Tourism, French, Education, Geography, and Medical Programmes.”

The Ministry added that Candidates in the first year of their programmes are not eligible to apply with the exception of female students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Tourism, Education, Geography and Medical Programmes.

 

“Teachers, lecturers, forces admitted in public higher institutions, students pursing post graduate medical disciplines in public institutions, Government Technical Institutes (GTI) and all classified persons’ with disability in Technical and Higher Institutions are encouraged to apply,” MTHE added.

Interested applicant must use the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE) website (www.mthe.gov.sl) to apply.

Completed application form with all supporting documents should be uploaded on the ministry’s website on or before 31 March 2022.
Candidates must choose the district where they want to be interviewed.
