Government Secondary School has been crowned winner of the inter-secondary school brass band competition held at the Kenema City Field, following a series of lively and competitive performances.
The event drew a large crowd of spectators from across Kenema, all eager to witness a showcase of musical talent, creativity, and school spirit. Participating schools delivered energetic and well-coordinated performances, each presenting distinct styles that reflected both discipline and artistic expression.
At the end of the competition, Government Secondary School emerged as the top performer, earning the title of Kenema’s Best Brass Band. Judges assessed performances based on criteria including coordination, rhythm, presentation, and overall musical quality.
Security for the event was managed by the Sierra Leone Police Kenema Division, led by Local Unit Commander Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Emmanuel Kpulun. Police presence ensured that the event was conducted in a peaceful and orderly environment, with no reported incidents.
The competition served as a platform to highlight the musical abilities of students in the district, while also promoting unity and positive engagement among young people. It further underscored the role of community events in fostering talent development and strengthening collaboration between schools and public institutions.
