Guma Valley Shut Downs Water Supply to Parts of Freetown
Sia Lucy Kannah The Guma Valley Water Company (GVWC) has announced a temporary shutdown of the main water supply to Freetown to allow technical crews to perform urgent repair work on a key transmission pipeline.
According to a public notice issued by management, the repairs target a 28-inch transmission pipeline located at Pogodon in Hamilton.
The utility provider expects maintenance crews to finish the necessary work by 7:00 PM, after which service restoration efforts will begin.
Guma Valley expressed their apologies for the temporary shutdown while assuring consumers that it will be completed within a short period.
“Management apologises for any inconvenience this temporary interruption may cause and assures valued customers and the general public that every effort will be made to complete the repairs and restore water supply within the stated timeframe,” Guma Valley said.
The company is the primary water supplier operating in the Freetown peninsular. They control vast reservoir of water, but often struggle to meet the needs of Freetown’s growing population.
