UNFPA, MoPED Review 2026 Progress With Implementing Partners in Freetown
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Sierra Leone and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED) have commenced a two-day Mid-Year Performance Review Meeting with implementing partners to assess progress and strengthen programme delivery across the country.
The meeting, held at the New Brookfields Hotel in Freetown, brought together UNFPA implementing partners, government stakeholders, and development actors to review achievements recorded during the first half of 2026 and identify areas for improvement.
Discussions during the first day focused on assessing performance against the Country Programme Document (CPD), strengthening financial accountability, addressing audit recommendations, and enhancing results-based programme management.
The forum also provided a platform for partners to share experiences, highlight implementation challenges, exchange lessons learned, and explore practical solutions to improve the quality, effectiveness, and sustainability of development interventions in Sierra Leone.
Among the participating organisations was the Global Youth Network for Empowerment & Development (GYNED), a UNFPA implementing partner that reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, transparency, and excellence in programme delivery.
GYNED noted that its participation reflects its continued commitment to contributing to national development priorities, particularly in improving the lives of young people, women, and vulnerable communities.
“As a proud implementing partner of UNFPA, GYNED remains dedicated to contributing meaningfully to national development priorities and improving the lives of young people, women, and vulnerable communities,” the organisation stated.
The organisation also commended UNFPA Sierra Leone and MoPED for convening the review meeting, describing it as an important platform for coordination, learning, and strengthening partnerships among development actors.
The second day of deliberations is expected to build on discussions from the opening session, with partners continuing efforts to enhance collaboration and deliver impactful programmes that support Sierra Leone’s development priorities.
