The Community Relations Department of the Harbour Police Division, led by the Regional Coordinator Freetown-East Sgt. 9585 Dumbuya E.S, in collaboration with the LPPB Regional Secretary Freetown-East, and the PRO of Motorbike Riders Western Region, on Tuesday 21st February 2023, conducted a sensitization about road safety precautions in using the Hillside Bypass Road.
This move was geared after several reports of lawlessness against some motorbike riders who usually failed to stop even when others are waiting for people to cross along the road.
Delivering the key messages, the team admonished riders to always obey road traffic signs, and observe the zebra crossing points by allowing pedestrians to safely go across the road.
Furthermore, the Support Officer Supt. Edward Kebbie Sesay reminded the riders to use the road with great precautions, and be aware of the traffic lights at Benz Garage Junction. “Failing to abide by the traffic rules and regulations will be met with strict penalties”, he concluded.
Residents of the Hillside Community expressed their happiness about the sensitization by asking God to bless the police and also requested periodic sensitization along the Hillside Bypass Road.
