In a striking display of commitment to agricultural development and food security, Honourable Hawa Akpajie Kallon, the Founder and CEO of the Muyengay Farmers Development Association in Jendema Town, Sorogbema Chiefdom, Pujehun District, is making headlines for her impressive rice harvest on a sprawling 60-acre farmland.

In an exclusive interview with Sierraloaded, Hon. Kallon revealed that she initiated this agricultural endeavor approximately six years ago, cultivating acres of rice across various locations in the district. What sets this initiative apart is her sole dedication, as she undertakes this development project without external support, relying solely on the hard work of residents, particularly those associated with the Muyengay Farmers Development Association, whom she pays to work on the farmlands.

Despite her foray into mechanized farming, Hon. Kallon faces challenges related to accessing mechanics and machine parts when they require repair, showcasing the determination and resilience required for such an ambitious undertaking.

This significant agricultural feat not only underscores Hon. Akpajie Kallon’s dedication to serving her constituents but also aligns with President Julius Maada Bio’s vision for the Feed Salone project. Her initiative contributes significantly to the government’s efforts to enhance food security and agricultural productivity in Sierra Leone.
