It saddens us to announce the death of Senior Lecturer & Head of the  Chemistry Department at Fourah Bay College – University of Sierra Leone, Dr. Lamin Mohamed Kamara, who passed away early today, 14th June 2022.

This sadness, sparks reactions of many of his present and past students.

“It brings tears to the heart and saddens me to hear  Dr. ( fall foot) has passed away. May Allah forgive him all  his misstep and grant him Janatul Firdause” his former student said.

Dr. Lamin Kamara was a qualified and accomplished professional with 15 years of experience in academic research, and education.

As an educator and researcher, he ensured that Health and Safety measures were maintained, planned and organized research work, maintained laboratories and equipment, and assisted in recruitment of new teachers by conducting interviews on behalf of Teaching Personnel.

He also used to train and supervise undergraduate students during their practical lessons at Coventry University and taught Science at the secondary school level both in the UK and Sierra Leone.

Dr. Kamara most recently served as Associate Tutor at the University Of Sussex Department Of Chemistry. He gained previous education experience at Coventry University and Annie Walsh Memorial Secondary School, in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

He was a member of variety of honorary societies, including the Royal Society of Chemistry UK and C60 Chemical Society of the University of Sussex.

Dr Kamara was a great man with a kind soul. His effort to impact thousands of students at the Fourah Bay College and his relentless services rendered to his country will forever be remembered.
