Health Ministry, SLPA Opening Match Postponed in Inter-Ministerial Football Competition
Sahid Bangura The opening fixture between the Ministry of Health and the Sierra Leone Ports Authority (SLPA) in the Inter-Ministerial Football Competition has been postponed by the National Sports Authority (NSA).
The match was scheduled for Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., but the organisers have yet to announce a new date or disclose the reason for the postponement.
The delay comes two days after the Ministry of Health, through its Sports Committee, presented its team with new home and away jerseys ahead of its first appearance in the competition.
The team’s debut had generated excitement among players, staff and supporters, who were looking forward to seeing the new kits in action. The postponement means they will have to wait until the fixture is rescheduled.
The additional time is expected to allow the Ministry’s squad to continue preparations for its opening encounter against SLPA.
Meanwhile, the Ministry’s Sports Committee has thanked staff, partners and well-wishers for their support and urged them to look out for the announcement of the new match date.
The Ministry maintains that its participation in the competition reflects its commitment to promoting health and wellbeing through sport.
