Health Ministry’s New Chief Medical Officer Kabba Assumes Office, Vows Patient-Centered Care
The Ministry of Health’s new Chief Medical Officer, Dr Mustapha Kabba, has taken office with a pledge to strengthen patient care, promote teamwork, and improve service delivery across the health sector.
Dr Mustapha Kabba said the well-being of patients would guide his leadership approach and health priorities as he formally assumed duty.
“Patients remain at the heart of our mission. They must be seen, heard, and cared for with compassion,” Dr Kabba said.
He expressed appreciation to President Julius Maada Bio, Health Minister Dr Austin Demby, and senior officials of the Ministry of Health, along with frontline health workers across the country, for the confidence placed in him. He pledged to support ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery, especially for women and children.
Dr Kabba called for stronger collaboration across all levels of the health system, stressing that progress depends on collective effort rather than individual work.
“We must work together as a team, not as individuals,” he said. “When we succeed together, we all share the credit.”
He also urged greater accountability and professionalism within the sector, encouraging health workers to focus on results and service delivery instead of assigning blame.
Dr Kabba paid tribute to his predecessor, commending past contributions and stating his intention to build on existing reforms to further strengthen Sierra Leone’s health system.
