Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu has commended the Surgeons in Action Foundation for providing free medical and surgical services to patients in Sierra Leone.
IGP Sellu welcomed the Foundation’s 12th medical team to the country and praised its continued support to the Sierra Leone Police Hospital through specialised equipment, medical expertise and free surgical operations.
He recalled that previous missions had provided free surgery to patients from Sierra Leone and neighbouring countries, particularly helping people who could not afford specialised medical treatment.
The Police Chief said the Foundation’s interventions have brought significant relief to beneficiaries while also helping to improve the professional skills and capacity of medical staff at the SLP Hospital.
Team Lead Dr Nuria Juan thanked IGP Sellu and the hospital’s management for their continued support. She said the Foundation remains committed to providing free medical and surgical services to people facing difficulties accessing specialised healthcare.
ASP Dr John M. Konteh said the visiting team is expected to carry out more than 200 free surgical operations during the current campaign.
He said 24 inmates have been identified to benefit, with 12 already operated on and another 10 scheduled for surgery, alongside other beneficiaries from across the country.
