As the narrative changes with the increasing emergence of global female leaders in Football Governance, Former SLFA Boss and FIFA council member Isha Johansen has met with the Benin FA President Mathurin De Chacus, after a bitter relationship between the two Football Associations in recent AFCON qualifiers in Freetown and Conakry last year that Sent Sierra Leone to the 2021 AFCON Competition.

In her quest for football for peace campaign, the FIFA council member thought it wise to bury the hatchet between the  two West African Football Association despite the football fracas that ensued between the two nations.

As a peace Ambassador, the meeting Madam Johansen held with the Benin FA President will further strengthen the bilateral ties between  two Football Association.

In a recent viral photo, Johansen was spotted with the Benin FA  president together with the President of the Nigeria Football Federation Amadu Pinnick

Sierra Leone and Benin heated match finally took place in Guinea,  after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) moved the controversy-hit fixture to June.

Postponed twice on Tuesday, the decisive match of the AFCON 2021 qualifiers between the two west African rivals, both  teams  were fighting for qualification, and the match was played during the international break in June.

The match was  first abandoned after Benin protested the results of a medical examination which named five of their squad members as positive for Covid-19.

Sierra Leone then needed to win at home to reach the tournament for the first time in 25 years while the visitors only then needed a draw.

In a statement, CAF said the decision to move the fixture was made after reviewing official accounts of the incidents that stopped the match from taking place at the schedule time.
