Sierra Leone head coach, John Keister said he is optimistic that his side, Leone Stars will get at least a point when they face Nigeria in Freetown this June.

The Sierra Leone National Team has regained renewed hope after they defeated São Tomé and Principé on Sunday by 2 goals to nil.

The team’s success came after failing to win against the minnows of Group A playing to a 2-2 draw. Leones Stars fell twice to The Parrots and True Falcons Team.

Leone Stars now seat at third position with 5 points with games against leaders Nigeria and second place Guinea-Bissau remaining.

Sierra Leone is two points behind Guinea-Bissau and four points shy of first-place Nigeria.

Only two teams are eligible to qualify for the African Cup of Nations which will take place in Ivory Coast next year.
