Post a comment Former President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma has reaffirmed his commitment to Sierra Leone’s peace, national cohesion and development following his return to the country from Nigeria.
Koroma committed during a meeting with President Dr Julius Maada Bio at State House in Freetown, where he expressed appreciation to the President for facilitating his return home.
Accompanied by Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, the former President said he was pleased to be back in Sierra Leone and personally thanked President Bio for the decision and support that enabled his homecoming.
“Mr President, it is good to be back here at home. I have to be here to thank you personally for the great decision you took on my return,” Koroma told President Bio.
The former President further assured President Bio of his continued willingness to contribute to national development, stressing that his commitment to Sierra Leone goes beyond political differences.
He also offered to make his experience and knowledge available whenever needed, signalling his readiness to support efforts to strengthen peace and unity in the country.
In welcoming Koroma back, President Bio described his return as significant and acknowledged the value of his experience as a former Head of State.
President Bio emphasised that Sierra Leone’s progress requires the collective efforts of its citizens, regardless of political affiliation or previous position.
The President also recalled his involvement in the country’s national sensitisation campaign during the Ebola outbreak, highlighting the importance of unity and collective action when Sierra Leone faces national challenges.
The meeting between the two leaders highlighted the importance of dialogue, reconciliation and cooperation among Sierra Leone’s current and former leaders as the country continues to pursue peace, stability and national development.
