LLDP Intensifies Drive for Better Project Monitoring and Reporting
The Livestock and Livelihoods Development Project (LLDP), under Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), has completed an intensive Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) capacity-building training in Bo City, aimed at strengthening how project results are tracked, analysed and reported.
The training brought together LLDP staff, MAFS personnel and representatives from District Councils, equipping participants with practical skills and tools to improve data collection, analysis and reporting while promoting greater use of evidence in project decision-making.

Through expert-led and hands-on sessions, participants received training across several areas of monitoring and evaluation, including digital data collection using ODK, data quality assurance, indicator management and Indicator Reference Sheets.
The programme also covered beneficiary profiling, data analysis and interpretation, dashboard development, evaluation methods, results visualisation and the preparation of quality M&E reports.
Beyond technical skills, the training focused on improving coordination among stakeholders responsible for monitoring LLDP activities and measuring project results.

Speaking during the training, LLDP Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist Brima Kamara underscored the importance of maintaining a strong M&E system to ensure that progress and results are accurately captured and communicated.
“Our ability to demonstrate the impact of LLDP depends on the quality of the data we collect, how well we analyse it, and how effectively we use that evidence to guide implementation and report results.”
The sessions were delivered by specialists in the respective technical areas and combined practical exercises with expert guidance to strengthen participants’ ability to generate reliable data, monitor performance and communicate project results effectively.

The capacity-building initiative forms part of LLDP’s broader efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and establish a robust, evidence-driven system for monitoring project performance and accountability.
By improving the quality and use of monitoring data, the project aims to strengthen decision-making and ensure that implementation progress and results can be effectively measured and reported.
