President Julius Maada Bio has summoned the Parliament of Sierra Leone to resume its parliamentary sitting on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Chamber of Parliament in the Parliament Building, Tower Hill, Freetown.
The summons was communicated by the Clerk of Parliament, Karmoh K. Conteh, in a notice dated August 13, 2026, addressed to the leadership and members of Parliament.
According to the notice, Parliament has been recalled by President Bio pursuant to Section 86(1) of the Constitution of Sierra Leone, Act No. 6 of 1991, for the resumption of parliamentary proceedings.
The Clerk has accordingly directed all Members of Parliament to attend the sitting and be present on time.
The notice further advises all Presidential nominees to undergo the usual parliamentary vetting process and make themselves available for parliamentary approval on the scheduled date.
The August 20 sitting will therefore mark the formal resumption of parliamentary proceedings following the President’s recall of the House.
