The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) has commenced a three-day mid-year performance review of agricultural projects aimed at accelerating results under the government’s flagship Feed Salone initiative.
The review, being held at De Wizard Hotel in Bo City, is assessing the implementation of 2026 Annual Work Plans and Budgets across key agricultural programmes, with a focus on measuring progress, identifying challenges, and strengthening accountability among implementing partners.
The session has brought together project managers, technical experts, development partners, and senior ministry officials to evaluate achievements recorded during the first half of the year while addressing bottlenecks affecting the timely delivery of planned outcomes.
Officials say the exercise is essential to ensuring that investments in agriculture translate into tangible benefits for farmers and support Sierra Leone’s broader food security objectives.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Dr Henry Musa Kpaka emphasised the importance of stronger coordination and results-oriented implementation across all agricultural projects.
He noted that although the various programmes operate under different mandates, they must work collectively towards the shared goal of transforming Sierra Leone’s agricultural sector.
“We cannot achieve concrete results if we work in silos. We must collaborate, coordinate, and share experiences among ourselves. By working as one team, we can solve challenges more effectively and deliver greater impact for our farmers and the nation,” Dr Kpaka said.
The review also featured presentations from the Food Systems Resilience Programme (FSRP) and the Livestock and Livelihoods Development Project (LLDP), with stakeholders providing feedback and recommendations aimed at improving performance and accelerating implementation during the remaining months of 2026.
