Sierra Leone’s Minister of Energy, Alhaji Dr. Kanja Sesay, has welcomed Sierra Leone’s re-selection for the Millennium Challenge Corporation, MCC, Compact Development Prgoram, stressing that the program would in no small measure radically and positively impact the country’s quest to provide a more reliable and affordable electricity supply.

The Compact is expected to improve private sector participation in power supply and double the energy transmission capacity.

It is to also increase access in select towns, and enhance sector governance and institutional capacity.

“Goverment has massively and deliberately invested in the energy sector, and we are gradually but surely getting to where we should be in terms of national grid capacity. No doubt the Compact will play a crucial role,” he concluded.
