The Minister of Information and Communications Mohamed Rahman Swaray on Monday, 2nd January 2023, visited the home of the late journalist and Station Manager of SLBC East Esther Kargbo at Musa Street, Kennedy Section in Bo.

In his address to the bereaved family, the minister Mohamed Rahman Swaray noted that he was shocked when he heard about the death of Esther Kargbo, noting that he has known her for ages.

“I have known Esther Kargbo as a hard-working journalist, who practiced journalism with no malice and favor. Esther did well as station manager for the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Cooperation (SLBC) in Kenema, she also did extremely well as station manager for the SLBC in Kailahun” the Minister narrated.

The minister also added that the late woman was advocating for SLBC in Kailahun to have a television station; and that the late woman was well known in Kailahun because of her interactions and passion for the work with people.

The Minister presented a token in an envelope as support for the burial of the former SLAJ Vice President and SLBC Station Manager East and also called on relatives and friends to be strong and courageous noting it is the will of God.

Abraham Batilo Mattia Regional Coordinator of Sierra Leone Broadcasting Cooperation (SLBC), appreciated the Minister for sympathizing with them.

He stated that they are still shocked over the death of Esther Kargbo but said death is inevitable.
