Minister of Internal Affairs, Morie Lengor, Esq., has directed agencies under his ministry to prepare one-month and one-year costed action plans, while urging stronger inter-agency collaboration to improve governance and service delivery.
The directive was issued during a meeting focused on institutional challenges, accountability, transparency, and the rule of law. Minister Lengor described the meeting as an important forum for coordination, information sharing, and strengthening collaboration among agencies under the ministry.
Minister Lengor acknowledged the challenges faced by various institutions but commended them for their performance despite existing constraints. He announced that fortnightly inter-agency meetings will now be held to improve communication, coordination, and decision-making.
He further directed agencies to develop one-month and one-year costed action plans outlining clear budgets, timelines, and achievable priorities.
Lengor also highlighted the Institutional and Policy Coordination Board’s (IPCB) UNDP-supported initiatives and called for continued collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Office of the Medical Examiner, and other relevant institutions to advance ongoing reforms.
He urged agencies to focus on practical and achievable results, particularly “low-hanging fruits” that can be delivered using existing resources.
Heads of agencies also presented updates on their achievements and ongoing programmes, highlighting efforts to improve service delivery and strengthen institutional performance across the justice and security sectors.
