The Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu has described the fake degree issue as a national disgrace.

“This fake degree saga started a long time ago with St. Clement. It graduated to IAMTECH, and because we failed to learn the lessons the episodes provided, what we got is Africa Graduate University (AGU) and Dominion Christian University and so on. This is to say the least a national disgrace,” the Speaker of Parliament, Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu said in the Well of Parliament early this week.

He pointed out that this negative development is putting the country into a national disrepute. He said “If you wanted to be called a Doctor, go and work for it and don’t buy it.”

In his contribution, the Deputy Leader of Government Business, Hon. Bashiru Silikile accused the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) of being responsible for this mess.

He said they believed that they should question the TEC and save the people from this embarrassment. He said there is a Civil Service Training College that was accused of working with the AGU, adding that being a government institution they should know what is right or wrong.
