The National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) has announced the postponement of the issuance of the National Identification Number (NIN) to candidates for BECE and WASSCE to early November, 2022.

NCRA made this announcement in a public notice issued today, Wednesday 19 October 2022, after huge number of desperate students stormed their headquarters in Freetown, resulting to turmoi and confusion.

The statement from NCRA reads, “The National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) wishes to inform the general public that following the Public Notice from the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) making the use of the National Identification Number (NIN) as a requirement for registration for Public Exams, the Authority in consultation with Education Stakeholders that include MBSSE. Teaching Service Commission (TSC). Sierra Leone Teachers Union (SLTU). Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE) etc has decided to:

1. reschedule the issuance of NIN to candidates for BECE and WASSCE starting early November, 2022:

II. identify and designate Centres to attend to the said candidates during the exercise

when it commences in November: Ill advise candidates to continue their normal schooling untill dates, schedules and centres are communicated to the public shortly.

In the meantime, the NCRA Offices across the country remain closed to BECE and WASSCE candidates. However, our offices are open to the general public for all CRVS and Identity related services from 08:45 through 17:00 from Mondays through Fridays.

The NCRA wishes to encourage the general public especially School Authorities, Parents, Guardians and Pupils to continue to exercise patience and show maximum understanding with assurances that they will be attended to without delay.”
