Dan Haringey Memorial School at Timber Town has emerged as the top-performing school in the 2026 National Primary School Examination (NPSE), achieving a perfect 100 percent pass rate with all 23 candidates securing placement above the cut-off mark.
The school recorded an impressive average aggregate score of 327.70, the highest among all institutions that sat for the examination. The results, released by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, cover 164,714 candidates from 5,228 primary schools nationwide.
The top five schools with 10 or more candidates sitting the 2026 NPSE are as follows:

Candidates: 35 sat, 35 passed

Romans International Academy (39 Upper Waterloo Street)
Candidates: 19 sat, 19 passed
Average Aggregate: 318.95
Daly Nursery Preparatory School
Candidates: 13 sat, 13 passed
Average Aggregate: 318.46
All top five schools achieved a perfect pass rate, demonstrating exceptional performance across both urban and rural institutions. Notably, Modern Foundation Academy Primary School in Kabala, located in the northern region, ranks third with the highest number of candidates among the top performers.

The Ministry noted that government and government-assisted schools continue to perform well in the NPSE, with expectations that performance will improve further as foundational learning initiatives are strengthened across the country.
“With the increasing focus on foundational learning, the performance of public schools in WAEC-conducted exams will improve even more,” the Ministry stated in its announcement.
The 2026 results show that 160,161 candidates sat at least one subject, while 4,553 candidates were absent for all subjects. A total of 125,498 candidates scored at or above the cut-off score of 230, representing an overall pass rate of 78.2 percent.
The results of 1,927 candidates have been set aside by WAEC due to failure to submit Continuous Assessment Scores and suspected examination malpractice. The Ministry has given affected schools until Thursday to submit missing documentation.
A detailed technical report is currently being prepared and will be available on the Ministry’s website by the first week of the 2026-2027 school year. The report will provide district-by-district performance analysis, highlight schools showing improvement, and categorize schools based on performance relative to candidate entry.
Results packages are being prepared for forwarding to all schools by the start of next week.
